The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) functions under the direction and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assumes responsibility and accountability for Patient Care Coordination (case management) and Nursing Departments. The CCO in collaboration with the management team, develops, implements, interprets and assures compliance with policies and procedures including federal and state regulations and accreditation standards. This position is responsible for implementing hospital goals and objectives for the current fiscal year based on budget parameters. The CCO reinforces the mission and vision of the hospital in all interactions.

  • Responsible for providing safe and fair working conditions for employees through participation in planning and interpreting personnel policies.
  • Ultimate responsibility for nursing clinical practice in collaboration with medical staff.
  • Actively participates in Continuous Quality and Performance Improvement (CQPI).
  • Develops budget for assigned departments in collaboration with CEO and CFO and manages costs associated with personnel, equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for productivity, staffing plans and quality of work of rehabilitation services both inpatient and outpatient.
  • Assures compliance with departmental scope of practices.
  • Maintains ethical practices.
  • Assures compliance with education/in-service requirements.
  • Participates on medical, clinical and/or executive committees.
  • Responsible for timely completion and delivery of performance evaluations.
  • Assures appropriate and timely documentation in medical record, including evidence of medical necessity.
  • Assures Quality Indicators (QI) education and training is provided for clinical staff and assures timely and accurate QI assessments are performed per protocol.



  • Graduate of accredited nursing program with current licensure in the state. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of previous clinical management required
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Good general health and stress coping ability. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Normal walking, standing, sitting, bending, carrying of light items such as books and papers and computer related work. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members) as needed for leadership, assessment, intervention, and professional development.
