HIM Director - Talas Harbor - Phoenix - AZPhoenix, Arizona
Kindred Behavioral Health is seeking a passionate, creative and goal-oriented HIM Director tojoin the team at the behavioral health unit located in Phoenix, AZ. We specialize in compassionate behavioral health services, including crisis stabilization for acute mental health and substance use disorders. The HIM Director plans, organizes, and manages all operations of Health Information Management
(HIM) for the hospital. Ensures compliance with federal and state laws, our company and other
applicable regulations related to Medical Records. Ensures compliance with and HIM department or
hospital HIM related policies and procedures are in accordance with requirements of CMS, Joint
Commission, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and other regulatory agencies as
applicable. Ensures compliance with and HIM department or hospital HIM related policies and
procedures are in accordance with requirements of CMS, Joint Commission, Medical Staff Bylaws,
Rules and Regulations, and other regulatory agencies as applicable.
Ensures the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of medical records.
Plans, implements, and monitors quality and production of department functions to best support patient care and hospital needs.
Performs or oversees personnel management functions.
Provides training and support to HIM staff.
Works collaboratively with physicians and department managers to achieve department and
hospital requirements and goals.
Must have good and regular attendance.
Excellent verbal and written skills

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Graduate of an AHIMA accredited program with a Baccalaureate degree in Science and
Medical Record Administration or higher.
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required; must be current and in
good standing through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential
Minimum of five years’ experience as an HIM Director in a hospital environment. Behavioral
hospital experience preferred. . Experience with Microsoft Office applications, adhoc query
software, electronic health records, image scan/index software and workflow, computer assisted
coding (preferably 3M) and encoder software. Strengths in team leadership, problem solving,
effective decision making, and accountability.
