UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital is a free-standing, 50-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation facility located on the east side of Madison, Wisconsin. Our rehabilitation hospital opened in September 2015 and offers specialized programs for people who have experienced stroke, brain and spinal-cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries and other conditions requiring inpatient rehabilitative services. Our goal is to help patients achieve their highest level of recovery with a goal of returning home as soon as able. The UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital is a partnership between UW Health, Unity Point Meriter and Kindred Healthcare.

The Receptionist performs general front desk duties such as greeting and directing visitors, answering and transferring phone calls, making follow up phone calls to patients and helping out with administrative tasks.  The position reports to the Human Resources Director, and as such assists with many HR functions including recruiting, onboarding and compliance.  In addition, this position will serve be trained as and act as a backup for our Health Unit Coordinators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Answers and transfers incoming calls.
  • Ensures visitors are acknowledged quickly and helps direct them and answer any questions.
  • Processes mailing labels for outgoing mail.  Brings mail to and from the mailbox and sorts it accurately.
  • Assists coworkers with various documents using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all data.
  • Supports the administration team with miscellaneous projects.
  • Initiates medical record upon admission.  Maintains said record during patient stay, and closes the record upon patient discharge within the electronic medical record.
  • Initiates follow-up regarding doctors’ orders.
  • Ensures that all patient and special charges are processed.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. 

Previous administrative experience highly preferred.

Healthcare experience preferred.

Flexibility and willingness to take on various duties.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent computer skills and comfort level with learning new systems.

Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to handle multiple assignments, balance priorities, make decisions quickly.
