We are recruiting for a Manager, Centralized Coding Services to join our Coding Team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of Centralized Coding Services is responsible for managing the remote coding employees as well as monitoring processes and personnel. The Manager also acts as a coding resource for facility coding and Clinical Coordination & Documentation Improvement (CCDI) staff as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises and monitors daily coding functions and processes to ensure compliance with all Federal and State regulations within coding area of department.
- Assesses coding accuracy and competency through review and audit results, reporting any discrepancies to the Division Director of Coding Operations.
- Maintain the facility assignments to decrease pending accounts with timely follow up.
- Daily review and response to Business Office holds.
- Prioritizes coding functions to assure records are coded within facility defined number of days from discharge.
- Collaborates with the CCDI team to maintain and exceed Discharged Not Final Coded (DNFC) goals.
- Understands Coding Classification Systems.
- Provides technical support to staff and theDivision Director of Coding Operations
- Assists in review of post discharge DRG changes.
- Assists in developing and implementing strategic plans for reducing avoidable DRG changes after discharge as it pertains to coders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Manage the work of employees including: planning, assigning and scheduling. The Manager will also review employees work to ensure quality standards are being achieved.

Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles of medical record coding.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in order to meet job demands.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information in an organized manner on a routine basis.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with peers, superiors and subordinates while working under stressful situations.
- Ability to manage several projects/tasks simultaneously.
- Technical understanding of coding operating systems (hardware and software).
- Communicates effectively and exhibits courteous behavior when dealing with coding department employees, as well as physician and hospital employees served.
Experience:
- 8+ years of coding experience
Certifications:
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA),Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) required.
Depending on candidate’s qualifications we may fill this at a different level.
