LifePoint Health has an oppurtunity for a Senior Systems Programmer - Remote
This position is responsible for contributing to and performing tasks within assigned ITS departmental areas in support of LifePoint’s Operating Systems, Infrastructure, and middleware, and which meet ITS/ Business expectations, and Customer Service Level Agreements. Serves on projects that require the department’s involvement. Provides departmental education and guidance to less experienced team members.
Essential Functions:
- Participates and manages departmental projects, ensuring that projects are clearly defined, systematically executed, fully documented, and business results oriented. Adherence to Project Management processes and standards within LifePoint are required.
- Understand and follow current client and application virtualization process and procedures.
- Executes defined migration strategies to move from the current technical platforms to the future technical architecture.
- Participates in the testing of the design or selection of new systems and technical infrastructure projects.
- Supports/contributes/performs operational procedures and standards within assigned department with business objectives in mind, according to vendor best practices.
- Certifies, installs, configures, and/or maintains LifePoint Windows server operating systems, infrastructure, and middleware.
- Provides 24/7 on call support and basic triage for the assigned department areas.
- Defines configuration specifications for new systems given application, business, and technical requirements.
- Utilizes problem management techniques to perform root cause analysis of system failures, and implement corrective actions.
- Measures application, OS, and hardware performance, and makes recommendations on correcting bottlenecks in systems performance.
- Communicates and documents LifePoint operating system, infrastructure and middleware issues within assigned departmental areas.
- Adapts and quickly assimilates new and refreshed operating systems/applications as implemented within the LifePoint ITS Data Center.
- Conducts technical evaluations within assigned departmental areas.
- Solicits feedback and guidance of best practices from manager and senior department team members.
- Serves as coach, mentor, and advisor to less senior department team members.
- Continually enhances knowledge of IT Operating Systems and LifePoint standards to achieve departmental success and professional growth.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- VCP or VCA Certification – preferred
- Proven knowledge of VMWare EUC technologies: Horizon, App Volumes, DEM, Workspace ONE.
- Knowledge and experience with Windows server operating systems, infrastructure and middleware.
- Solid background with Active Directory Group Policy Management.
- Experience with overall infrastructure components. (Network/Storage/Compute).
- Experience with automation/scripting, PowerShell preferred.
- Experience with NetScaler.
- Experience with automation/scripting, PowerShell preferred.
- Competent in providing direction and education on departmental procedures/policies/standards to less experienced departmental team members.
- Ability to work independently and medium sized projects with minimal supervision.
- Able to understand LifePoint's Information System strategy and how it supports the business strategy.
- Comprehends and can articulate fundamental concepts and terms related to IT operating systems, infrastructure and middleware.
- Ability to relate complex IT concepts and procedures to less technical team members.
- Required support experience and/or current working knowledge in the following areas:
- Windows server operating system’s (Server 2016, 2019)
- VMware Horizon 8.x
- App Volumes 4.x
- DEM
- Workspace ONE
- NetScaler
- Active Directory
- Troubleshooting client server issues in a distributed environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience required.
- 8+ years working in an IT department.
- 4+ years of experience managing, and migrating VDI environments using VMWare and/or Workspace ONE.
- 4+ years of experience with Remote Access Technologies based on VMWare and Workspace ONE.
- 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows 20xx Server.
- 4+ years currently working in the core technical area supported by this assigned department.
- 4+ years leading and participating in departmental projects within the core technical areas supported by ITS Operating Systems.
