Description

We are looking for a Pharmacy Clinical Informaticist to join our Hospital Division Clinical Operations Department in Louisville, KY.


Contributes to the improvement of patient care processes by analyzing the use of clinical information systems thereby improving the efficiency and efficacy of the healthcare provider in the provision of patient care. Responsible for, documenting, analyzing, verifying and communicating business requirements and testing IS functionality.  Works in conjunction with IS Team to meet the needs of our common customer, the clinical information system users and the patients they serve.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages routine clinical project work requests (PWR) consistent with divisional goals, current trends/requirements specified by governmental and regulatory bodies.

  • Becomes proficient in the use of selected clinical software systems to become expert user and resource for requested enhancements, training, and problem solving.

  • Provides content for the development of clinical user training materials and training programs.

  • Trains hospital staff on the use of clinical systems.

  • Researches current applicable laws and regulations (federal and state) governing the provision of healthcare in the long-term acute care hospital.

  • Assists with documentation of clinical work and information flow processes in the long-term acute care facilities.

  • Identifies healthcare provider requirements, assumptions, resource constraints (people, time, finances), and system performance issues and criteria.

  • Assists in the design of pathways to provide clinical documentation of the provision of patient care that is a) appropriate to the individual facility as well as the overall line of business; b) in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders using various communication media (e-mail, face to face meetings, telephone); c) considers workflow and documentation of patient-care related activities; and d) coordinating and streamlining documentation wherever feasible.

  • Participates on committees formed to assist in development and review of automated systems and work flow.

  • Assists with quality testing to ensure that identified pathway changes meet stated objectives.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations:

  • Basic knowledge and experience with computer systems, applications, development, and testing methodologies as they relate to the business areas being supported.

  • Proven success in participating on project teams with medium to large business initiatives.

  • General business knowledge of area being supported.
  • Experienced in incorporating successful interviewing, facilitation, and documentation techniques within a project.

  • Experienced with writing, executing and reviewing test cases.
  • Able to work with minimal direction and guidance from project manager.

  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma, Associate Degree, or BS in Pharmacy.

Licenses/Certification:

  • Maintains professional Pharmacy licenses/certifications.

Experience:

  • 2+ years experience in the clinical discipline (related to the clinical diploma or degree held) in an acute care or long-term care hospital setting
