Job Summary:

Depending on division supported, may perform some or all duties. Coordinates legal services and manages the contracting system for assigned division. Interacts with senior management of each facility to resolve operational issues. Develops and maintains electronic contract management system and data storage system that ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions: (Those functions that the individual who holds the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation).

• Advises facility management on operational issues/problems, e.g., admissions, guardianships, subpoenas, contracting, state law issues, etc. Coordinates response to subpoenas.
• Interprets state statutes on a variety of issues including confidentiality of records, Termination of Life Support, Do Not Resuscitate, Advance Directives and residents' rights.
• Establishes and modifies the contract management application and manages all non-system based contracts, enabling hospitals to contract with various physicians, physician groups, vendors and universities. Ensures contracts are in compliance with federal and state statutes and company policies. Prepares and reviews contracts. Works directly with field on negotiating contract terms.
• Develops computer management tools for use by the Hospital Division enabling each hospital, regional and Support Center offices to effectively manage the process.
• Performs legal research on a variety of issues.
• Develops educational seminars for the assigned division on a variety of topics including physician contracting and regulatory issues.
• Monitors personal licensure actions. Assists facilities and employees in responding to requests from licensure boards.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations:
• Working knowledge of healthcare law.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of long-term care industry.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
• Proficient computer skills including Lexis, Pacer, Word, CLMS/Stars, and Internet.
• Ability to analyze, research, and interpret.
• Must have good and regular attendance.
• Approximate percent of time required to travel: 0
• Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or paralegal certification from an accredited school.

Experience:

  • 5 years experience in a law firm or corporate legal setting.
