We are recruiting for a Director, Workforce Management to join our Hospital Division.
Responsibility for oversight of workforce programs and tools related to staffing, scheduling and acuity. Develops and manages forecasting and scheduling models as well as systems and methodologies needed for analysis, measurement, and assessment of staffing/scheduling and acuity tool effectiveness. Actively contributes to the development, implementation, education and monitoring of patient classification system and other data that is used to interpret the value and cost of care, including staffing and scheduling systems. Provides support, guidance, clinical and administrative expertise, and management of the hospital division’s Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) patient classification system for nursing care (known as the Kindred Hospital Acuity Tool – KHAT).
Participates in planning and creating operational, service design and other organizational plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of the Hospital Division related to staffing, scheduling and acuity programs.
Oversees the hospital division’s patient classification system(s) to ensure a reliable, valid and systematic method to objectively classify patients according to needs in order to determine appropriate caregiver skill mix. Assesses needs, establishes updates and supports management of processes, applications and systems as it relates to the hospital division’s PCS(s). Oversees the on-going maintenance and future needs of the hospital division’s patient classification system (PCS).

Be an adjunct trainer of Hospital Division sponsored scheduling tool(s).
Perform activity studies, as needed, to revalidate acuity system.
Use statistical methodologies to analyze data from workforce optimization applications to identify opportunities for improvement, potential validity threats, ROI indicators, etc.
Verifies accuracy of Position Control for facilities based upon budgeted HPPD and ADC.
Review and report Position control open FTE/vacancy rates monthly, verifying accuracy of projected FTE’s based upon budgeted goals.
Analyze BW Labor Analysis reports and scheduling system reports to measure shared staff metrics. Provides reports to District Leaders monthly
Provides support to Staffing Program Managers regarding market performance and opportunities for improvement.
Participates in concurrent review of data from workforce optimization applications to inform leadership of ongoing compliance.
Works collaboratively with Clinical Operations and hospitals’ Chief Clinical Officers as appropriate to provide educational programs, tools and processes for orientation, in-service training and continuing education of the patient classification system and standardized Position Control processes
Provides technical expertise and consultation regarding application and PCS management, policies and processes.
Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Strong understanding of workforce management concepts including staffing / scheduling / acuity / time & attendance.
Skills to navigate and use Micosoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications
Strong relationship management skills with the ability to relate to all levels of the organization.
·Master’s degree Nursing preferred
·Minimum of 5 years progressively-responsible work experience in patient care settings with progressively higher supervisory management experience. Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement exposure expected, certification preferred. Exposure to management engineering techniques a plus.
National Travel: 30 – 40%
Depending on a candidate’s qualifications, this position may be filled at a different level.
