We are recruiting a Director, IT Contract Administration to join our Information Systems team in Louisville, KY.

An opportunity to expand your IT skills by actively analyzing, negotiating, and completing IT vendor contracts.  Kindred Healthcare is growing and expanding the use of cloud based applications with specific contract requirements.  The Director, IT Contract Administration will use their IT experience and financial skills to achieve business results by working with IT vendors, fellow IS team members, and business leaders to analyze and complete key contracts.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze, negotiate, and complete complex IT contracts.  Analyze operational and financial feasibility, ensure internal/external compliance, and assist management in making business decisions.  Coordinate the preparation of contracts and ensure their accuracy and completeness.  

  • Participate as a key team member to achieve Kindred Healthcare business goals.  Actively build and maintain excellent working relationships within the IS department and with strategic IT vendors.  Provide feedback and justification to IS Executive Management concerning contract negotiation issues and solutions.  Advises on the annual IS capital and operating budget with regard to IT contracts.

  • Consult frequently with IT vendors throughout all phases of contract preparation.  Interact with Kindred Healthcare Risk & Compliance, Law, Regulatory, and other internal departments as required.  Consult with IT management to ensure the contract meets business needs.  Gather operational data and prior contract information from various sources (division staff, regulatory department, IT vendors, etc.).

  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of information into the department contracts database and adhere to department policies and procedures regarding processing of IT contracts and the associated business projects. 

  • Interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner and with a high level of customer service responsiveness.

  • Adhere to and participate in Company’s mandatory HIPAA privacy program/practices and Business Ethics and Compliance programs/practices.  Review and adhere to all Company policies and procedures.

  • Abides by and demonstrates the company Mission – Vision – Values through both behavior and job performance on a day-to-day basis.

  • Highly analytical and able to understand IS business objectives.

  • Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal guidance.

  • Experience working across multiple departments & organization levels.

  • Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a commitment to deadlines and deliverables.

  • Current working knowledge of best practices for IT vendor contracts.

  • A team player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.


  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in writing/analyzing/negotiating IT contracts required
  • Experience working with Excel spreadsheets and/or database tools (MS Access, Cognos, etc.) required

Depending on candidate’s qualifications, this position may be filled at a different level.
