Assists the Medical Staff Manager with the effective functioning of the credentialing process to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements, accreditation standards, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and applicable policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for assisting in distributing, receiving, and processing, initial and re-appointment applications for membership to Medical Staff for approximately 300 physicians and allied health practitioners.
  • Follows up with Physicians, ensuring that all required documents are compiled in applicants files appropriately according to State and Federal requirements, accreditation standards, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidential credentials files and electronic medical staff database.
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
  • Assists in the development of a departmental operating and capital budget.
  • Assists the Medical Staff Coordinator with routine administrative office function support services.
  • Answers the telephone in a professional manner; directs calls appropriately.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  • Is a resource person both within the department and to administrative staff of other departments.
  • Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company's Code of Business Conduct, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
  • Promotes adherence to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and the Corporate Compliance Agreement by monitoring employee performance and identifying and responding to compliance issues.



  • High School Diploma.



  • Experience with  initial appointment and reappointment applications in an acute care hospital.
  • Experience with preparing medical staff department/committee meetings and composing minutes.
  • Experience with or direct involvement in a combined accreditation and licensing survey at an acute care hospital. 


  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.   Ability to communicate in English effectively through verbal and written means to the extent necessary to perform job duties appropriately.  Reading and comprehension at level necessary to perform job duties appropriately.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Independent problem solving and decision making abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected.
  • Ability to work under stress and to respond quickly in emergency situations.  Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills when working or interacting with patients, their families and other staff members.
