Kindred Healthcare is currently seeking an enthusiastic Resource Clinical Liaison to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Business Development team! Our full time Resource Clinical Liaison position is opening with an immediate need for hire. You will be able to work with our different IRFs in order to assist them in their business development, market analysis, growth, and planning. There will be opportunities to conduct trainings and develop educational programs. You could also be tasked with research, liaison mentoring, conflict management, and other program improvement projects.


This role requires at least 75% travel, to our IRF facilities from coast to coast. The position would require flexibility in scheduling and last minute changes in deployment settings. The ideal candidate would be able to think on their feet, and be intuitive to the needs of the clinical liaisons when in new and changing environments. You will be required to work with the local Director of Business Development to plan your deployment tasks to be completed while on site. In addition to on site work, you may be responsible for remote assistance, education, and training of new, or low performing liaisons. This position requires an understanding of stressful environments and conflict management techniques. This role is also a resource and educator for the admissions processes and procedures.


This position is also required to work alongside our New Start Implementation Team in our new rehabilitation hospitals. In this portion of the role the Resource Liaison will be required to educate the liaisons and work alongside them with patient selection, learning new pre-screening processes and procedures. This may entail cold calling, educating on the admission requirements of rehab, and working with the DBD for physician development.

  • Possess knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements as related to IRF level of care. Participate and maintain hospital compliance as related to state, federal, joint commission, CMS, and DOH standards.
  • Maintain professional rapport with the private rehabilitation sector, commercial insurance companies, community organizations, rehabilitation nurses, accident and health carriers, HMO’s, workers compensation carriers, and self insured employers.

  • Assure timely and responsive communications between referral sources and IRF. Be responsive!

  • Liaison should be able to communicate well in a public forum as related to giving presentations.

  • Liaison should be available for travel at least 75% of the time, as well as be comfortable with working in new, potentially un- familiar markets (cold calling).

  • Liaison should be comfortable with conflict management/ resolution.

  • Liaison should be hands on and a strong multitasker.

  • Should be proficient with basic computer programs (Will use EMR, UDS, Meditech, Microsoft Office, etc.)

In this position, you will be a vital asset to the continued growth and improvement of our IRFs. This role acts as support to facilities that require assistance with growing their community presence, training liaisons in the field, and developing their business plan. You will be responsible for training in the field, giving presentations, and assisting IRFs in their ongoing market analysis. In addition you will also assist with:


  • Serving as a resource to the network/system for marketing and admissions related issues.

  • Identifying new potential company market opportunities and assist in their development.

  • Empowering liaisons relative to marketing strategies and patient/family education for program features and benefits.

  • Work on special projects, research, and development.


  • College degree in healthcare-related field with CLINICAL LICENSURE REQUIRED (RN, LPN, LVN, PT, OT, PTA, COTA, SLP, LMSW, Respiratory Therapist)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in acute care or rehab.

  • Clinical experience required with demonstrated skills in clinical assessments and marketing.

  • Requires a professional level of knowledge in physician relations and interfacing with insurance companies.

  • Extensive knowledge of local provider and medical communities.

  • Ability to be available for occasional evenings for marketing events, weekend coverage, and routine travel.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.

  • Ability to deal tactfully with, patients, hospital staff and the general public.

  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

  • Must maintain valid driver’s license.
