JOB SUMMARY
Follows a treatment plan designed by the supervising Occupational therapist in conjunction with treatment
team using therapeutic, recreational ,and leisure activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Treatment
  • Carries through a treatment program as outlined by the licensed Occupational therapist after the initial evaluation.
  • Coordinates with the Occupational Therapist regarding each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational and occupational therapy interventions.
  • Provides patient and patient's families with information regarding progress, home programs, and creates an awareness of recreational and therapeutic resources in their community.
  • Coordinates therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourages socialization.
  • Assists in planning and conducting daily occupational therapy groups in accordance with the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
  • Demonstrates self-control, team work, and the ability to respond effectively in a crisis situation.
  • Utilizes communication, body language and teamwork to effectively help patients to maintain self-control.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with impending signs of physical distress, agitation, assaultive behavior, and potential for self harm, falls, and elopement risk.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Associates degree in designated field X Required 

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
